Short version: Tidegate keeps your data on your PC. Nobody else gets it, us included.
The app
- Everything you save (hosts, passwords, keys, 2FA codes, notes, logs) stays in one encrypted file on your PC. There is no account and no cloud copy.
- Tidegate only connects to servers you open, and to a folder you pick if you turn on sync.
- There is no telemetry, no crash reporting and no analytics.
- Update checks are off until you say yes. Then Tidegate asks
api.tidegate.netfor the newest version when it starts and every 2 minutes. The request holds no id, no version number and nothing about your hosts. You can turn it off any time under Settings, Updates.
api.tidegate.net
- It serves the newest releases for the app and for the download buttons here.
- Like any server, it sees the IP address a request comes from. It uses it only in memory, to stop floods, and forgets it within a minute. The API keeps no access log and stores nothing about who asked.
- It counts how many times each file of each version is downloaded, and nothing else: no time, no address, no browser, no id. The totals are public at api.tidegate.net/v1/stats and on the front page.
This website
- No cookies, no trackers, no fonts or scripts from other sites.
- Your light or dark choice is kept in your own browser, nowhere else.
- The page asks
api.tidegate.netfor the newest versions, so it can show version numbers, checksums and the list of changes. The request holds nothing about you.
